Transient Network Simulation

Typical commissioning and routine testing with steady state signals is sufficient for most applications. However, many modern digital relays require transient simulation for proper verification and assessment. OMICRON’s solutions make it easy to simulate true conditions to correctly test applications like transient ground fault, new power swing detection algorithms, or other dynamic system events. In addition, applications like R&D or acceptance testing require studying the reaction of relays exposed to transient effects.

OMICRON’s easy-to-use transient network simulation modules NetSim and Transient Ground Fault have been designed to meet such testing demands in an optimized manner. NetSim even covers signal distortion resulting from transient CT saturation. Furthermore, if the transients are taken from fault recorders or calculated from EMTP, ATP or other transient network simulation tools OMICRON's Advanced TransPlay and TransPlay test modules are the ideal tools to evaluate the reaction of protection systems to such simulations.
