GOOSE Configuration Module

GOOSE Configuration Module

The GOOSE Configuration Module allows the testing of protection devices with IEC 61850 GOOSE messages. It is used to configure the mapping and to set up the test set for communication with the substation network. Like any OMICRON test module, it can be inserted multiple times in test plans to automatically reconfigure the "wiring" whenever required.

CMC test sets with IEC 61850 functionality operate with status data in GOOSE messages as if they were "wired" to the binary inputs and outputs. Data attributes from received (subscribed) GOOSE messages actuate the binary inputs of the test set (for instance trip or start signals). The states of the binary outputs are written in the data attributes of the simulated (published) GOOSE messages. Therefore all test modules of the Test Universe software can also be used with GOOSE messages.

Key features
  • Compatible with all protection related modules from the Test Universe software
  • Timing performance of message exchange is in accordance with Type 1A, class P2/3 (IEC 61850-5, "Trip" - "most important fast message")
  • Import of parameters from SCL configuration files
  • All IEC 61850 types and structures are allowed in the GOOSE dataset
Applications

The GOOSE functions can be used with the following test sets: CMC 850, CMC 356, CMC 353, CMC 256plus, and CMC 256-6 with NET-1 Option.

IEC 61850 Package

Since the different IEC 61850 testing tasks are typically performed together, OMICRON has bundled its commonly used tools in one package. It consists of IEDScout and the CMC configuration modules for GOOSE and Sampled Values.
